GPonline reports that GPs have been 'removed from supply chain' of hepatitis B vaccine. The GPC has advised GPs to refer patients to other providers to receive the vaccine until further notice, after agreeing that practices should be 'removed from the supply chain'. A letter sent by Public Health England informed practices that general practice will not be able to order any vaccine stock ‘until further notice’.
Many dental practices are finding that team members, particularly new entrants, cannot obtain the vaccine, which leads them to be unavailable for most assisting work in dental practices.
Judith Cummins Labour MP for Bradford South branded children’s lack of access to NHS dentistry an ‘absolute disgrace’ during a House of Commons adjournment debate. She called on the Government to ‘get on’ with dental contract reform. Replying junior health minister, Steve Brine, said the Government had pledged to ‘support NHS dentistry to improve coverage and reform contracts’.

The Chief Dental Officer for England, Sara Hurley, will set out the “clear and compelling” economic case for integrated oral health at the Health and Care Innovation Expo in Manchester this month. She said: “There is clear and compelling evidence regarding not only the health benefits, but fiscal dividends to investing in oral health.”
A denture shop owner who made false teeth worn by the Still Game character Methadone Mick has been fined £1,800 for illegal dentistry. After a trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court, John Nicol, 73,was convicted of practising as an unregistered dentist. Outside court, Nicol said people came to his firm, Speedy Dentures, after "terrible treatment from dentists".
With the Great British Bake Off back on our television screens, the Oral Health Foundation has investigated where in the United Kingdom is most likely to reach for a roulade and which places are saying no to a gateau. Belfast topped the list, with Norwich and Liverpool coming next. At the other end were Aberdeen, Oxford and Nottingham.
