Looking To The Future

Looking To The Future

Dental Showcase Is Back……And Is Bigger Than Ever!

Technology is constantly evolving and chances are it will have been a few years since you invested in new equipment for the practice.  Your existing tools might be working just fine, and may not ever become obsolete, but aren’t you just a teeny weeny bit intrigued to find out just what’s out there and how it might assist you in your day-to-day work?  At this year’s Dental Showcase you really will gain an insight into the latest innovation in the industry.

Could New ‘Gear’ Move Your Practice ‘Up A Gear’?

To use a common analogy, if you’ve looked after your iPhone 4 it will still be perfectly functional and you may be perfectly happy with it, but what if you had an iPhone 7 in your hand and could see the advanced camera, hear the improved audio, feel the streamlined shape and learn about the better battery life not to mention the fact that it was water resistant!  Well, at Dental Showcase you have the opportunity to see, hear, feel and learn about all that’s new in dentistry.  Moreover, as everything is under one roof you can comfortably do it all in a day, and earn yourself some valuable CPD in the process.

Tomorrow’s World

New to this year’s Dental Showcase will be the Dental Surgery of The Future.  Purpose built for the show it will include a reception area, built to the highest specification, a patient information zone and a fully functioning surgery, equipped with only the very latest technology.  The futuristic surgery will have seating, so that delegates can relax during keynote speeches and demonstrations.  As well as learning about what’s new in the industry, you will also be able to listen to talks on topics such as handling medical emergencies, 3D printing, business management matters and IRMER guidelines.  Delegates will, of course, have the opportunity to play with all the new gadgets and gizmos in the surgery!

Education….The Passport To The Future

Once you’ve done a little ‘window shopping’ or maybe even bagged yourself an exclusive Showcase bargain, you might like to spend some time freshening up your CPD.  The latest clinical content, delivered by the biggest names in the academic community, will be presented at the Dental Update Theatre.  The programme, which will be chaired by the charismatic but also very pragmatic Professor Trevor Burke, will give you an unrivalled insight into the latest research.  The scope of the programme will be wide, but common to all presentations will be the need to provide you with education, which you will be able to apply within your practice.  Dental Update firmly believes that their lectures should focus on matters that impact the day-to-day lives of practices up and down the country.  Priority entry will be given to Dental Update subscribers.

BDIA Dental Showcase – Another great success

BDIA Dental Showcase – Another great success

BDIA Dental Showcase has again delivered a show worthy of its reputation as the premier event on the dental industry calendar.

With many exhibitors reporting excellent on-stand sales, visitor figures for this year’s Showcase have also shown that the dental industry is in good health with practices and practitioners happy to apply many of the technological advances they have discovered at BDIA Dental Showcase 2016.

Michael Cann, President of the British Dental Industry Association (BDIA) and Managing Director of Septodont, is delighted with the numbers of visitors that they have seen at this year’s show and said, “Our stand this year has focused on our new online CPD training that will allow practices to be compliant with the 2013 Sharps Legislation using our new needle-stick injury prevention devices, which has had a very good response from visitors.”

Sonia Tracey, Vice President of the BDIA and Managing Director of W&H, commented, “The visitors we have seen at our stand this year have done their homework before coming to the show, which makes our work so much better as we can offer them more detailed information and products that are useful back in their practice.  This has also allowed us to spend quality time with them to ensure they get all the information they need.  We couldn’t have asked for better.”

Charlie Fuller, Sales and Marketing Manager at OralB, is very happy with year’s Showcase, saying “BDIA Dental Showcase is an incredible event for us.  It gives us one-to-one time with practitioners who work with our products and who will be advising patients on which of our products will work best for them.”

Alun Dabner, Brand Manager of Colgate, said “We have had an excellent show this year with visitor and sales figures at our stand looking really healthy.  Our on-stand lectures have been very well attended which has fitted in really well with our education focus for the show.”

With the announcement that next year’s show will be organised under the auspices of the Mark Allen Group and George Warman Publications, 2017 will certainly be a very exciting year to look forward to.

Dr Finlay Sutton at The Dentistry Show 2016

Dr Finlay Sutton at The Dentistry Show 2016

Dr Finlay Sutton will be among the outstanding speaker line-up presenting the Aesthetic Dentist Conference at The Dentistry Show 2016. Keen to demonstrate that removable prosthodontics remains a viable treatment option, even with advances in dental implantology, he will be discussing “The 7 Secrets to Successful Removable Prosthodontics”.

“I will deliver a very practical and clinically-focused presentation, exploring my seven secrets for the creation of beautiful dentures with optimal function,” he says. “Using a selection of case studies, photos and videos, I will show how I have worked with my on-site dental technician, Rowan Garstang, to produce removable dental prostheses with exceptional function and aesthetics.

“For those attending my lecture, you can expect to pick up some practical tips to help you make superb impressions and maximise retention for both partial and complete dentures. You’ll also see how to determine optimal tooth positioning when designing the prosthesis, ensuring that it is always age appropriate.

“I love coming to The Dentistry Show and have been to the last three events. There really is something at the show for everyone involved in dentistry and dental technology. It is a brilliant place to learn new dental techniques, see new products and materials and keep up-to-date with the latest technological advances in dentistry, so that we can improve what we provide for our patients. In addition, it is a great opportunity to meet up with friends and colleagues.”

Finlay will be speaking alongside an outstanding line-up of nationally and internationally renowned lecturers within the Aesthetic Dentist Conference. Led by Elaine Halley, Chair of the educational programme, confirmed speakers will be Professor Trevor Burke, Didier Dietschi, Florin Cofar, Roberto Spreafico, Louis MacKenzie and Ian Kerr, discussing a wide range of relevant topics from CAD/CAM technologies and the digital workflow to management of complex cases and direct composites.

Even more CPD and learning opportunities will be on offer throughout the trade floor, where many of the more than 400 dental manufacturers and suppliers will provide on-stand education and product demonstrations. Additional hands-on workshops and lecture theatres such as the Facial Aesthetic Theatre, EndoLounge, PerioLounge and STO Lounge, will also cater to specific disciplines and be tailored to all members of the team.

Make sure you don’t miss out!
