Researchers at Queen Mary University of London have developed a new way to grow mineralised materials which could regenerate hard tissues such as dental enamel and bone. The study, published in Nature Communications, shows that this new approach can create materials with remarkable precision and order that look and behave like dental enamel.

Portman was set up in 2009 by Sam Waley-Cohen, the amateur jockey who stunned the horseracing world by winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup seven years ago. He owns a big stake in Portman, alongside Livingbridge, a buyout firm, which became a shareholder in 2014.

The House of Commons Health Select Committee has called on the Government to take ‘effective action’ on childhood obesity to narrow the widening gap between richest and poorest communities.
