DPA starts fightback

Following the apparent transfer of the management of the Dental Professionals' Association [DPA] to CODE, the membership of DPA has announced an Extraordinary General Meeting to be held in central London on April 21st to debate motions against the takeover.

Following 133 requests a Special General Meeting of DPA members will be held on Sat 21 April in the Cambridge Suite, Holiday Inn, Carburton Street London W1W 5EE

The DPA are saying that it is imperative that every member attends this meeting to secure the future of the DPA as an independent, mutual not-for-profit association.

Motions to be considered are:

  • “that Council at its meeting on 21st January was in breach of Rule 6 (Conflict of Interests) due to the offer of share options in GDPA Ltd and was therefore not eligible to consider any proposal from CODE”
  • “that Council in signing the Association Management Agreement with GDPA Ltd. on 15th February through Jim Donaldson was acting outside its powers”
  • “that this Association wishes to dismiss the Council and elect a Steering Committee in its place, which will report to a further General Meeting on changes to the management and Constitution necessary to secure the future of the DPA as independent mutual association run on a not-for-profit basis”
  • “that this Association authorises action to assess and recover damages from any member or members thought to have been in breach of the Rules”
