CQC pursues unregistered practices

The Care Quality Commission is taking steps to register practices that either missed the 1 April registration deadline or provided incomplete applications. Those operating before the deadline were invited to make a "transitional application". A small number of providers failed to do so and will be contacted from this week.

Providers carrying on regulated activities must now complete the application form on the CQC website and submit them without delay. Go to: http://tinyurl.com/3evhgeu

Also, some providers have failed to apply for a CQC enhanced level countersigned CRB. They have until 1 September 2011 to provide evidence to CQC they have done so. Without it, their application will be refused and issued a notice of proposal.

Section 10(1) of the Health and Social Care Act makes it an offence to carry on a regulated activity without being registered.
