MP Secures An Urgent Dentistry Debate - Contact Your MP

The British Dental Association (BDA)  is urging dentists, their teams and patients to write to their MP (link below) ahead of a debate scheduled for Thursday morning.

Melanie Onn (pictured with Eddie Crouch)  is the Labour MP for Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes.  Last week she met with BDA Chair Eddie Crouch and has tabled what has been named a ’General Debate on Access to NHS Dentistry’. It will be held in the House of Commons chamber on Thursday morning, May 22nd.

Ms Onn was not available to speak to GDPUK, however, a member of her team told us that her office had been "in receipt of ’considerable’ casework relating to dental access problems including ’lots’ of patents being taken off dentists’ lists."

In Opposition, the Labour Party articulated the outrage of the profession and patients alike at the state of NHS dental access.  However, despite ongoing discussions between the BDA and Wes Streeting’s ministerial team,  to date there has been no reform of the contract, seen as an essential first step to rebuilding NHS dental services.

GDPUK supports the BDA initiative and urges its readers to highlight the importance of the debate to their MP using the following link which opens an ’oven ready’ letter to send to your MP.  All you need to enter is your postcode and email address.
