Jason Wong Confirmed As New CDO England

GDPUK understands that Jason Wong MBE is to be the new Chief Dental Officer for England.
Dr Wong qualified at the University of Birmingham in 1995 and is a Partner at The Maltings Dental Practice in Grantham, Lincolnshire.
Jason joined the Office of the Chief Dental Officer as Deputy Chief Dental Officer in July 2020 working under incumbent Sara Hurley. When Hurley left her post, he was appointed as the interim Chief Dental Officer for England in July 2023.
He was awarded a MBE for services to Dentistry and Oral Health in the New Year Honours list 2020.

As the CDO, Wong will play a crucial role as the national professional lead for oral health strategy and dental care in England. His responsibilities include providing system-wide professional and clinical leadership by defining the strategic vision for England’s oral health and implementing a comprehensive approach to enhance NHS dental and oral health services. Wong will collaborate with local and regional teams across the UK to improve patient outcomes. Additionally, alongside his CDO duties, he will continue to dedicate a day to clinical practice
Wong expressed his pride in being appointed to the role of Chief Dental Officer for England and acknowledged the challenges faced by NHS dentistry. He looks forward to working with colleagues across the system to support service recovery and improvement, as well as leading the transformation of NHS dental services.
