Tony Kilcoyne has been elected as a UK-wide member of the BDA’s Principal Executive Committee. Others elected were East Midlands and Central - Alison Lockyer, Greater London - Russ Ladwa, South East - Victor Chan and Scotland - Derek Harper.

Tony Kilcoyne is well known to GDPUK members. In his election address he said: he had ‘a wide and credible range of experiences in Dentistry: Clinically, Educationally and in mainstream Media too. He said he would use his 30+ years of experiences to help the BDA be more proactive and stronger. He added “We want members to be PROUD of the BDA and non-members to consider being part of a BDA movement, which represents them well and communicates with all, clearly and assertively!”

Alison Lockyer is a returning member of the PEC. She said she wanted to address two areas of ‘real concern’: over-regulation and the growth of corporates.

Russ Ladwa is another returning member. He was a chair of its Health and Science committee and amongst other past appointments was Dean of the FGDP(UK).

Victor Chan, another returning member is a general dental practitioner running a single-handed private practice in Sussex. He is currently Chair of the International Affairs Committee and which works with the Council of European Dentists, FDI World Dental Federation. He says it is his ‘priority to see a reduction in red tape that dentists face.’

Derek Harper is the new representative from Scotland. A GDP he said in his election address: “General practice is reaching a crossroads in all parts of the UK and steadfast leadership of the profession through the BDA is more vital than ever. The PEC as the overarching body of the association has a great deal to do to maintain membership and guide these members through the trials ahead.”
