Dentist Priya wins ‘Spot the Fake’ challenge

Dentist Priya Soneji of Hemel Hempstead is the winner of its latest ‘Spot the Fake’ competition featured on the BDIA stand at the BDA Dental Conference and Exhibition 2016. Priya, commented, “I was delighted when I was told I had won the competition. It is so important that, as dentists, we can spot fake equipment and make our purchases from trusted suppliers”.
The competition, organised as part of the BDIA’s award winning Counterfeit and Substandard Instruments and Devices Initiative (CSIDI), challenged members of the dental team to correctly identify a range of genuine and counterfeit dental devices. The competition drew a high level of interest and highlighted the difficulty of recognising when a piece of equipment is counterfeit or substandard, underscoring the importance of buying from a reputable supplier.
As the winner of the competition Priya was given £500 to spend with a BDIA member of her choice at Dental Showcase 2016.
The BDIA’s CSIDI campaign continues to stress the importance of purchasing from reputable suppliers and the advantage of being able to get ‘hands-on’ with equipment at BDIA Dental Showcase, as well as encouraging members of the dental team to report any suspect equipment.
