GDC: Gilvarry resigns

The General Dental Council has announced that its Chief Executive and Registrar, Evlynne Gilvarry, is to step down in January 2016. The GDC will then appoint an interim Chief Executive to lead the organisation following Evlynne’s departure, whilst steps are taken to find a permanent replacement. She said that after five years in post: “It is now the right time for me to hand over to a new chief executive to lead the GDC going forward.”

GDC Chair Bill Moyes said: “On behalf of the Council and staff, I would like to thank Evlynne for her very valuable contribution and commitment over a period of immense challenge for the organisation. She has driven forward some very significant and necessary improvements during her time with the GDC which will benefit the organisation well into the future.”

Evlynne Gilvarry said: “It has been a privilege to lead the organisation for the last five years and I have greatly enjoyed working with so many talented and dedicated colleagues. It is now the right time for me to hand over to a new chief executive to lead the GDC going forward. I would like to thank the GDC’s Council members and staff for their support and commitment during my time with the organisation.”

You do get the feeling that if she/they were that confident what they have done recently is right, she would stay to fight their cause, with regard to recent BDA actions and opinion of regulator authority. Easy way out?
