NHS England recognises local dental committees
Dr David Geddes head of primary care commissioning, NHS England, has written to regional and area directors of commissioning to clarify how the role of local representative committees will be formally recognised in the new NHS.It will assume statutory responsibility to recognise the local representative committees, which are composed of elected members representing the four main primary care professions.

It has been agreed that for the purposes of ensuring a smooth transition, and the continuation of payment of LRC levies, NHS England should automatically continue to recognise all LRCs that were previously recognised by PCTs from April 2013 for an interim period of six months.

During this period, there will be a need for area teams as the local offices of NHS England to recognise the local representative committees to which they will relate. Where a LRC has a relationship with more than one area team, it only needs formal recognition by one team.
