Kilimanjaro challenge raises mountain of funds for charity

Tim Thackrah, practice principal at Elmsleigh House Dental Clinic in Farnham, is recovering from his exertions after raising £5,500 for charity in a sponsored climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Though rewarding, the climb proved to be a tough challenge that left him exhausted. “That will teach me for climbing mountains and going where there is limited oxygen,” he says. |

The funds raised will be shared between Bridge2Aid and the Phyliss Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham.
Bridge2Aid works in the Mwanza region of North West Tanzania, working closely with the Tanzanian Government to deliver dental care. Activities include a not-for-profit dental clinic in the city of Mwanza and a community development programme for a leprosy care centre.
A programme sees dentists and nurses from the UK spending two-week periods in Tanzania to deliver care in regions where three quarters of the population have little or no access to dental services.
The Phyliss Tuckwell Hospice is the only adult hospice serving West Surrey and North East Hampshire, caring for seriously ill people and their families.
