Ross, who has been senior lecturer in orthodontics at the Newcastle Dental School for the past 17 years, developed the first UK integrated PhD programme in clinical orthodontics, combining clinical specialist training in orthodontics with research. The development of this PhD programme is part of Ross’ overall commitment to improve the student educational experience and he believes strongly that the development and provision of the learning environment for student and staff is essential, and that empowering staff to develop and try new methods is vital to ensure a positive and vibrant culture of quality enhancement to the benefit of both.
Ross feels honoured to have received these awards and said: “I am extremely proud to have won these awards. They are recognition of many years of work in developing dental education and I must acknowledge the help and assistance of my colleagues who enabled me to undertake the work.”
