A Birmingham dentist and practice owner has set alarm bells ringing as the additional UDAs he was banking on receiving were suddenly no longer up for grabs following the West Midlands Integrated Care Board’s diversion of unspent dental funds to support alternative health services.

The GDC have now offered their response to the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) review which was recently published. Once again the regulators regulator marked the GDC as failing on two of the expected standards for the Fitness to Practice process.

Regrettably, Dr Louis McKenzie BDS (Birm) FDS RCPS (Glasg) passed away shortly before Christmas. Numerous heartfelt tributes have poured in for this exceptional individual, there have been many meaningful conversations expressing their sadness over the loss.
Before departing her role as Chief Dental Officer England, Sara Hurley, spoke of private dentists experiencing FOMO (fear of missing out) when they looked at the life they might have enjoyed in her new improved version of NHS care. To date, it is eager members of the public who are missing out, as the University based dental centre she leads appears to be slipping behind schedule.
