Amongst the various professions delivering healthcare, dentists and in particular GDPs, have been heading to the NHS exit door in large numbers. Unsurprisingly this has left NHS dental provision near breaking point.

The late lamented Kevin Lewis used to tell the story of his advice to a disgruntled dentist who wanted to send a letter to a particularly trying patient, telling them just what he thought of them. After the dentist had read a draft of the no-holds barred letter to him, he asked Kevin what he thought of it. Ever diplomatic, Kevin Lewis told the dentist that it was a very good letter.

Like most emerging markets, dental software initially saw a plethora of small companies competing with a wide range of products. As the market matured through take overs and mergers, as well as seeing stragglers drop out, EXACT emerged as one of the key players.
It appeared to have gone quiet in Ipswich at the project led by former CDO, Sara Hurley. Perhaps too quiet, as GDPUK has now heard from very reliable sources that the former Chief Dental Officer will be departing, possibly not out of choice, from the dental school that she was so instrumental in setting up.
