This spiral bound handy reference book, a new edition by the same editor, Nick Palmer, a GDP from Liverpool, is published under the wings of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners. It’s a handy size, and not too taxing to read in a single sitting. In it, the busy GDP will find that every aspect of prescribing is encountered, and definitive answers given, each chapter backed by clear and linked scientific references.
So all these years of manufacturers trying to bully us into giving unnecessarily longer courses of antimicrobials by packaging into packs of 21, when in some instances of particular drugs, three tablets for three days is definitely the correct dosage.
Not only are the amounts and time clearly defined, but reminders of modern practice such as when not to prescribe are clearly outlined too. Infections are covered in logical groups, based on the area affected by bacterial infections, the covered by other causative agents. This simple layout makes it easy to reach out to for quick reassurance.
