Sad News - Louis Mackenzie

Regrettably, Dr Louis McKenzie BDS (Birm) FDS RCPS (Glasg) passed away shortly before Christmas. Numerous heartfelt tributes have poured in for this exceptional individual, there have been many meaningful conversations expressing their sadness over the loss.

For those less familiar with him, the profession has lost an invaluable figure. Louis was a selfless contributor to UK dentistry, offering his expertise without expecting anything in return. His passion for building others up and his genuine concern for the profession’s trajectory set him apart.

A remarkable educator and clinician, Louis was not only talented but also a kind, gentle, and open-hearted person. His positive impact on countless careers has been widely acknowledged by those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.

Louis was a General Dental Practitioner for 30 years in Selly Oak, Birmingham, and was a clinical lecturer at the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry and King’s College London. He delivered postgraduate lectures nationally and internationally on direct and indirect restorative techniques, minimally invasive dentistry and clinical photography and ran a series of popular hands-on courses.

GDPUK team and subscribers send their condolences to the Mackenzie family.

The dental profession in the UK is now a poorer place.
