Please ensure that you abide by the Forum Rules:

  • Follow the forum rules at all times. If you're not sure whether your post will violate the rules, ask the moderator before you send it.
  • Don't overquote. Include only the specific information you're responding to, and edit the rest, especially when replying to the digest. Also, remove unnecessary headers/footers, as they get repeated.
  • Sign off your message with your real name. This forum wants to see exactly which professional colleague stands behind an opinion.
  • Use common sense when posting. Be aware that you always have two options: responding through the forum or to a member personally. The content of your message should determine which of these you choose.
  • Lurk and learn what's acceptable before posting to the forum.
  • Keep posts to the forum brief. If you're post doesn't add value, don't send it. (Example: Don't send a "thanks" message through the forum. You can send something like that directly to the person you're thanking.)
  • Be courteous to other forum members. If you disagree with them, fine, just don't resort to personal insults.
  • Consult the forum archives, before posting a question. This is also a good way to become familiar with a forum's acceptable topics, etc.
  • If you feel the need to flame, send hate mail, or otherwise reprimand another forum member, do it off-forum.
  • Do not forward virus warnings and the like to a forum.
  • Respect other people's opinions. If you disagree, do it politely.
  • Spell check and reread your messages before posting.
  • Do not blatantly promote yourself, any commercial interests, or otherwise spam the forum.
  • Self-promotion should be kept to a brief signature file at the end of your posts.
    • Signature files must not exceed 5 lines.
    • This may include one URL
    • Images are permitted in signatures, with a maximum size of 200px width and 80px vertically.
    • Video links may not be embedded in signature files.
  • Any patient data posted must be anonymised, and posted only with the permission of the patient.

    • By data, this includes images, images of models, radiographic or other scanned images.
  • However, GDPUK believes there is a strong benefit in dentists sharing this sort of information, for their own education, for advice of colleagues. GDPUK believes this sharing of this anonymous data will lead to benefit for the patient, but must be done responsibly and in a professional way.
  • Do not forward copyrighted material to the forum unless you have permission to do so.You may link to other information published on the web by use of the relevant URL.
  • If you do use information not your own, give proper credit.
  • Always remember that anything posted to this [private] group must be considered to be in the public domain, please take care not to write anything which could be considered libellous. The ease of copying postings means any message can be circulated very quickly to anyone.
  • Opinions expressed in this group are those of the author and are the sole responsibility of the author. They do not necessarily reflect those of anyone else associated with the group.
