Dentist Abi Sampa showed the coaches how to smile on The Voice with her singing on Saturday evening on BBC. Abi, who is 27, qualified two years ago, and sang her version of the Oasis song Stop Crying Your Heart Out, adding an Asian influence.Danny O'Donoghue was most impressed, and chose Abi to complete his team of ten in this prime time reality show.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has said that it is determined not to fall into the trap of simply ticking boxes in its inspections of health and social care providers. The CQC has said that it is looking at a wider range of information and evidence about dental practices, allowing it to make a broader assessment about quality and performance than would be possible purely on the basis of an inspection alone. It now has almost 30 dentists available to take part in inspections, CQC has confirmed.

English Department of Health has announced changes to its decontamination guidance document HTM 01-05. Lilian Lindsay, the first woman dentist to qualify in Britain and the first female BDA President, has been honoured with the unveiling of an English Heritage blue plaque at her childhood home. The plaque, which has been erected as part of the well-known scheme run by English Heritage, is in Islington at where she lived from 1872–1892. It was unveiled on 17 April 2013.
