RADC colonel-in-chief dedicates memorial

The Royal Army Dental Corps (RADC) has relocated its memorial stone to the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. It was transferred to the Arboretum from Aldershot. An additional inscription has been added to its base plinth which reads: 'Dedicated to those who have served or are serving in the ADC and RADC. The rededication service was attended by RADC Colonel in Chief, HRH the Duchess of Gloucester.

Go to Tokyo for ugly teeth

A rather bizarre story comes to us from Japan where a dental clinic has started supplying fake crooked teeth to those with more traditional ‘Hollywood smile’. Dental Salon Plaisir says its ‘Stick-on Crooked Teeth’ will impart that desirable ‘imperfect’ look to men and women alike, making them more attractive to the opposite sex.

CQC consults on fees for next year

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has launched a consultation on fees. It proposes to reduce the fees in the middle bandings for dental services. Cynthia Bower, CQC’s Chief Executive, said: “At this stage we are only proposing some minor changes to the fees scheme. These will be the first steps in a longer term strategy for a scheme that we will develop in close cooperation with providers.”

There’s gold in them there – toothbrushes

Three people were arrested in Florida after police raided a pawnshop suspected of selling stolen dental products. Investigators said the value of the stolen items could be more than $3 million. Electric toothbrushes and whitening trips were the favourites of the looters.

Practice Plan acquires Isoplan and Medenta
