Dentists from The British Association of Private Dentistry (BAPD) are calling for the resignation of the Chief Dental Officer of NHS England, Sara Hurley, Newsweek reports. The Association announced its vote of no confidence received 97.5% approval after what it called a dental "crisis" caused by the "unnecessary pain and suffering and even life-threatening situations some patients have had to face".

CDO Scotland has outlined a pathway for a return to dental practice. The crisis in UK dentistry was raised in the House of Lords when peers raised questions which highlighted to the Government the problems affecting dentists. The GDC rejected an appeal to mitigate the effect to ARF on the dental professions and the BDA has responded.

She was elected to represent the Faculty’s North East and North West Thames membership divisions for a three year term of office succeeding the late Nik Pandya. The Chief Executive of the Irish Dental Association has called for "clear direction" from the Government, the National Public Health Emergency Team and the Dental Council of Ireland on how dentists can resume their work. He said the State has not, to date, offered help to dentists in sourcing PPE.

Dental Protection has called on the Welsh Government to look again at its offer to provide dentists with 80% of their NHS annual contract value (ACV), following concerns that the offer will be insufficient for many. Raj Rattan, Dental Director at Dental Protection said: “The Covid-19 crisis has caused significant worry and concern for dentists in Wales”.
