An exercise to recover money allegedly paid to dental practices because of bureaucratic errors by Scottish Government should be postponed because the data on which it is based appears to be seriously flawed, the British Dental Association (BDA) has warned.

Most dentists complete CPD and pay ARF

The General Dental Council (GDC) has announced that thousands of dentists have completed their CPD cycles and paid their Annual Retention Fee. The GDC will now chase up the remaining 344 dentists who did not complete their 2009-13 CPD cycle. In addition 39,105 dentists have successfully renewed their annual registration.

Catherine Forman from Barkingside in Essex told a local paper that she has “two knights in shining armour” to thank after their quick thinking helped save her life. One was an unknown driver who gave her a lift, the other was Dr Hitesh Mody, her dentist.

Dental Protection is celebrating a judicial review victory after a judgement established that a failure to record an examination does not necessarily mean that the examination did not take place. Dental Protection had lobbied for the significant change after a dentist in Powys was accused of making inappropriate claims because no record of an examination had been made.

A new group formed to tackle and reverse the growing obesity epidemic has been welcomed by the British Dental Health Foundation (BDEF). Action on Sugar, formed of a number of leading worldwide experts, hopes to educate the public on the dangers of hidden sugars and raise awareness of the ‘un-necessary' amounts of sugar added to our foods and drinks, a large reason behind the growing obesity crisis.
