Hundreds of people have queued for hours to register at a dental practice in Llangollen. The BDA has called on the Welsh Government and Local Health Boards in Wales to ensure this situation does not become the ‘new normal’- pressing for real reform of the failed NHS dental system.

An article in the online journal BMJ Open has found that the sugar content of most supermarket yogurts well above recommended threshold, new analysis of nutrient content reveals. And organic varieties, often viewed as healthier options, contain some of the highest average sugar content, at 13.1 g/100 g, the findings indicate.

A mother and daughter from Rye have been fined thousands of pounds for offering illegal tooth whitening at their salon. Jayne and Tiffany Beach pleaded guilty to and were ordered to pay almost £4,000 by Hastings Magistrates’ Court. The magistrate said: “This was a serious offence with lots of aggravating features, which caused a lot of pain and discomfort to the complainant.”
The Chancellor’s budget has been analysed by the the National Association of Specialist Dental Accountants and Lawyers, with an emphasis on how it will affect GDPs. Most, but not all will benefit from an increase in the personal tax-free allowance and raising the level at which higher rate applies. On the downside it has been confirmed that the business rates relief will not apply to private practices.
The Oral Health Foundation launched this year’s Mouth Cancer Action Month at the House of Commons. More than 75 people from across 40 organisations were in attendance and heard from a range of speakers reemphasising the need for greater nationwide support for mouth cancer awareness.
