Erosive Tooth Wear Video Competition

Most patients won‘t have heard of it, but erosive tooth wear is the third most commonly observed oral condition and, according to the Erosive Tooth Wear Foundation (ETWF), every patient should not only be aware of the condition and how to prevent it, but dentists should be screening for it at every clinical examination.
To help realise this ambition, the ETWF is offering a prize to dental undergraduates across Europe to help increase awareness of the condition amongst the new generation of dental care professionals.
Entering as either an individual or as a team, entrants can use their creative skills to record a short video that brings the condition of erosive tooth wear to life.
There are 2 categories to enter:
- Best Patient Advice Video
- Best video explaining how to diagnose tooth wear.
£600 prizes
Each category carries a first prize of up to £600 and a second prize of £300 plus a ’certificate of achievement’ that will embellish any undergraduate’s CV.
The initiative is also offering an ’Engagement Prize’ with a prize of £100 for the video that attracts the most likes, shares and engagement in social media.
Dr Saoirse O’Toole, Clinical Lecturer in Prosthodontics at King’s College London and member of the Erosive Tooth Wear Foundation team said, "Today’s dental students will be shaping the oral health of future generations. Erosive tooth wear is increasing in prevalence due to changing dietary habits and medical conditions, so we need to evolve the clinical dental examination to recognise this emerging dental challenge. Dental students, as future clinicians, are the perfect cohort to drive that change."
