Sir Paul Beresford quizzes Health Secretary

The Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Dentistry, Sir Paul Beresford MP, has tabled four questions to the Health Secretary regarding the proposed ARF hike by the General Dental Council. Unfortunately, as Parliament has risen for the summer, there is not likely to be an answer to these questions before autumn.

The following parliamentary questions were asked by Sir Paul.

Sir Paul Beresford (Mole Valley): To ask the Secretary of State for Health, when he plans to respond to the British Dental Association's recent letter to him expressing concern at the regulatory ability of the General Dental Council and condemning its proposed annual retention fee increase of 64 per cent.

Sir Paul Beresford (Mole Valley): To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what discussions his Department has had with the General Dental Council on its proposal to increase the annual retention fee by 64 per cent; and what his Department's response was to that proposal.

Sir Paul Beresford (Mole Valley): To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what procedures his Department has put in place to deal with the consequences of a failure by the General Dental Council to meet key tests set by the Professional Standards Authority.

Sir Paul Beresford (Mole Valley): To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what his policy is on top-level pay at the General Dental Council.
