It has been confirmed that Septanest local anaesthetic cartridges are latex free. This news is a GDPUK exclusive. Septanest components are a synthetic rubber bung, a synthetic rubber diaphragm in a medical grade glass cartridge. This news is important to dentists as increasing numbers of patients are allergic to latex, and there is a need for local anaesthetic products which are latex free. |

A spokesman for Septodont also pointed out that the product information within the packaging uses the phrase "rubber closures" but the material used is a synthetic material, Elastomer, which is latex free.
Septodont hope to bring this change in across their range of local anaesthetic products, hopefully to be completed during 2008.
