Almodovar is a GDP in mixed practice. He has a postgraduate qualification, and still enjoys certain aspects of clinical dentistry.
He’s old enough to be cynical about the profession, which frankly makes him any age over 25.
He does not write for any other sites or publications, because deadlines are stressful and he has quite enough of that...

I chose the pseudonym based on his seminal “Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown” from 1988. Looking at his movie catalogue now I can see that “Talk to her” would apply to my therapy sessions, “The skin I live in” to my sense of self at times, “What have I done to deserve this?” to my early dark days, “Matador” to how I feel going to work most days, and “Bad Education” for how I feel toward the profession at times for not preparing us for the stresses we face!

In 2006 the 'new contract' was introduced. Anger about the way the DoH behaved was rife. John Renshaw, Eddie Crouch and Ian Gordon formed CHALLENGE - a pressure group to argue the dentists' case. Now another 'new contract' is imminent , Challenge is here to take up cudgels on behalf of dentists again.

I started In Dentistry over 12 years ago, joining an outsourced Dental support company called OneSG (that then became Igloo Healthcare). I joined as their IT Manager, with a ‘team’ of just me. I had been in IT for years. IT was a passion for me since the very first time my dad brought home a ZX81 Computer when I was about 9.

I started In Dentistry over 12 years ago, joining an outsourced Dental support company called OneSG (that then became Igloo Healthcare). I joined as their IT Manager, with a ‘team’ of just me. Early Dentistry Career
I was in the very fortunate position (being so new to Dental IT and needing to learn all about it) of helping Portman Healthcare (now Portman Dentalcare) grow from just 3 practices to where they are today. I say fortunate because not only did I work with some amazing people inside Portman (many of whom are still there) but it let me learn about all the intricacies of Dental IT at a slower pace than being dropped in at the deep end.
I really enjoyed learning what makes the IT in a Dental Practice tick. I quickly learned who all the main providers were, who supported them and who the best guys to go to were for help. I am genuinely forever grateful to those guys for their support in my early days while I was learning.
I beavered away, growing a great team at Igloo and supporting Portman Healthcare, as well as Bupa (when they first moved into Dentistry) and also about 20 other smaller, independent Practices.
After some changes, an idea formed to start up on my own, so with a bit of luck, a brand-new company registration, ThreeSixty IT was born.
I guess I have a different mindset to others, I like to help – for me it’s not always about the financial reward. I just like to help where I can. I was helped massively when I started my journey by people inside some of the larger companies (like Exact, Kodak, Kavo and Clarke Dental) and just like to do my bit to “pay it forward”.
I am very active in the dental forums on facebook, and will always jump in and offer my help and advice if I feel I have something to add.
This blog started as a bit about me, but became more about ThreeSixty IT because I guess I am so interwoven into it and passionate about it being a success.

For over 30 years, in NHS & private dental practices, with GDPs and specialists, Jo has always loved working chairside.
She has experience as a DN tutor and an Oral Health Educator, and is currently employed at Devonshire House Dental Practice, Cambridge.
Pre-Covid she regularly visited pre-schools and primary schools to offer OHE, and worked as an NEBDN Associate assisting with practical OSCE National Dental Nursing Examinations. Jo is a member of BADN and BSPD.
When her children started primary school, she discovered that the government-funded SFVS were giving out dried fruit snacks and the school was allowing all sorts of cariogenic processed fruit snacks to be eaten at playtime (thinking they were natural and healthy). When SFVS & DHSC decided it wasn't a problem, Raisin Awareness was born.
