As part of its campaign to raise public awareness of safety in relation to tooth whitening, the General Dental Council (GDC) has launched a new publication: Considering tooth whitening? The GDC is warning the public against tooth whitening conducted illegally by unregulated persons.

Women are the most likely to break one of the three golden rules for clean and healthy teeth, with nearly six out of ten (59 per cent) regularly skipping brushing their teeth at bedtime, compared to just over a third of men (35 per cent). |

New research has found harmful fungal pathogens living in extreme conditions in some of the most common household appliances, such as dishwashers. Some of these are potentially dangerous to human health. The new paper, published in the British Mycological Society journal, Fungal Biology, shows that these sites make perfect habitats for extremotolerant fungi (which includes black yeasts). There could be implcations for dental washer disinfectors.
