Proposed changes to powers for law enforcement agencies to combat the use of ‘cutting agents’ in recreational drugs must not be allowed to adversely affect the availability of dental anaesthetics, the British Dental Association (BDA) is warning. The BDA is concerned that one of the substances covered by the proposals, the local anaesthetic lidocaine which is widely used in dentistry, should not have its legitimate supply interrupted.
