NHS Choices editorial rights granted

It has been announced that dentists can now request the facility to edit their practice profiles and respond to patient feedback on the NHS Choices website direct from the NHS Choices central helpdesk. The ability for dentists to do so has been provided following lengthynegotiations that have stressed the importance of practices being able to change information and counter any inaccurate postings. Previously practices had to apply to NHS commissioners for editing rights. This created an extra hurdle for them.

BDA Financial Crisis: GDPC votes unanimously for EGM

At the General Dental Practice Committee meeting in London on Friday 4th October a motion was proposed:

“The General Dental Practice Committee recommends that an Emergency General Meeting of the BDA’s UK Council is urgently convened, to examine the impact of the new membership structure on the Association.”

This was passed UNANIMOUSLY by GDPC.

The BDA membership needs to know that there is strong feeling amongst their elected representatives, and this is being resisted by the leadership of the BDA.

Reduction in decay among 5 year olds since 2008

Reduction in decay among 5 year olds since 2008

Acording to the latest figures from the oral health survey of five-year-old children in 2012, 27.9% of five-year-old children in England had experienced dental decay. This is a 9.7% reduction since 2008. However the results reveal wide variation in the prevalence and severity of dental decay: the areas with poorer oral health tend to be in the north and in the more deprived local authorities.
