BDTA Showcase announces this year’s mini lecture programme
After last year’s success the mini lecture programme returns for another year. 2013’s programme includes a whole host of new and informative lectures, free for every member of the dental team. The lectures will be sponsored by exhibitors, with expert speakers presenting on their specialist areas. This year’s exhibition will be held from 17-19th October at Birmingham’s NEC.

DCPs fail to register their CPD

DCPs fail to register their CPD
When the first five year cycle of continuing professional development (CPD) ended last month for dental care professionals (DCPs), of the 39,336 DCPs in the cycle, 29,416 have completed all their hours and 2,303 have yet to declare any. Failure to complete the necessary hours can lead to removal from the Register.

No breach notices for underperformance this year

Solicitor Alex Hall has informed clients that NHS England has announced that ‘no breach notices will be issued for under-delivery’ in 2013/14 only. Although the new policy states that they will ‘financially recover all monies to 100% where a contractor has delivered less than 96% of the contractual UDAs’.

GDC publishes ‘Standards for the Dental Team’
The General Dental Council (GDC) has published its new 'Standards for the Dental Team' which will replace its current Standards Guidance. The new 'Standards for the Dental Team' was approved by Council in June and is now available to view on the GDC website here

Nothing wrong with sweets says health minister
Public health minister, Anna Soubry, is reported as saying, in an interview with The Grocer, that ‘there's nothing wrong with sweets’. She said that it was not the job of government to tell supermarkets where to put their shelves. She was commenting on a proposal to ban stores from arranging sweets and chocolate in front of checkouts.
