Dental Protection is celebrating a judicial review victory after a judgement established that a failure to record an examination does not necessarily mean that the examination did not take place. Dental Protection had lobbied for the significant change after a dentist in Powys was accused of making inappropriate claims because no record of an examination had been made.

Action on Sugar, formed of a number of leading worldwide experts, hopes to educate the public on the dangers of hidden sugars and raise awareness of the ‘un-necessary' amounts of sugar added to our foods and drinks, a large reason behind the growing obesity crisis.

Fluoridation could save NHS £millions

The NHS in England could save at least £4 million annually on hospital admissions for the removal of rotten teeth if water fluoridation were extended to areas with high levels of tooth decay, research published in the latest British Dental Journal (BDJ) suggests. The BDA’s Scientific Adviser, Damien Walmsley, said: “This study is a powerful reminder of how water fluoridation saves the NHS money, and how whole populations can benefit from a huge improvement in their dental health.”

Before each communication, the GDC gives careful consideration to how best to communicate with key stakeholders. All dentists who are over 50 and work in the NHS are urged by Nick Ledingham, Chairman of NASDAL, to make sure they aren’t inadvertently penalised by changes in the pension rules.  His advice to dentists who haven’t yet received a Pensions Saving Statement is to contact NHS Pensions and apply for one.
