Mercury poisoning case dropped

A dental nurse accused of poisoning her boss with mercury has walked free from court. Ravinder Kaur's case was dropped by the CPS when two separate juries failed to reach verdicts. She was said to have laced practice manager Laura Knowles’ coffee with the toxic metal after being handed her final written warning three days previously.

RBS cleared of wrong-doing

The Royal Bank of Scotland has been cleared of deliberately putting small and medium enterprise customers in financial distress or out of business for its own profit in a recent report. Law firm Clifford Chance said it had found “no evidence” of wrong-doing by RBS and had found nothing to suggest small business customers had failed because of actions taken by the lender.

Speaking recently to an audience at the BDA Conference, PEC Chair Dr Mick Armstrong said that dentistry was under attack from Governments, regulators and the fearfulness of politicians. He argued that the dental profession is facing a burgeoning challenge in which a double standard between the professionalism expected of it, and the lack of professionalism with which it is too-often treated, is emerging.

IDH acquires Dental Directory

IDH to acquire Dental Directory

Integrated Dental Holdings (IDH) has announced its acquisition of The Dental Directory supply business. Further terms of the transaction were not disclosed. With nearly 300 employees across four UK sites, services comprise field based sales teams and engineers, a dedicated UK call centre, on-line and mail order capability supported by automated picking and packing systems from a base in Witham, Essex.
