“Let’s us all do what it takes for a better dental contract,” were the words of Joe Hendron at the LDC conference dinner last night, when he told delegates why he handed back his prototype contract and his disillusionment with the contract reform process. The after-dinner speaker was Callum Youngson, head of Liverpool Dental School.

LDCs demand better care for adults in care homes

Today dentists from across the UK have called on governments to fund dental services for residents in care homes which are often either poor or non-existent.

The annual gathering of dentists from Local Dental Committees (LDCs), held in Belfast (7-8 June), has said that commissioning dental services for vulnerable older people is rarely a priority and it is time that this shameful situation is reversed.

The 67th Annual Conference of Local Dental Committees opens in Belfast today, the first time it has been held outside England. Chair, Joe Hendron, told GDPUK: “It promises to be a great Conference. I have tried make it more representative of the whole profession and I look forward to welcoming more female delegates and many younger faces.”
