The Alliance is calling on the Government to restrict the placement of unhealthy food and drinks in high profile locations in these stores to help families make healthier choices when shopping.

Cases of mouth cancer in the UK have more than doubled inside the last generation, yet an alarming number of people are still unable to identify the early warning signs and symptoms. Last year, more than 8,300 British adults were given the news that they had mouth cancer.  This is an increase of around 135% compared with 20 years ago and the highest since records began.

Freakshakes should be banned and BDA seeks a way forward

The campaign group Action on Sugar is demanding a ban on freakshakes and all milkshakes with more than 300 calories. It surveyed milkshakes sold in restaurants and fast food shops in the UK and found they contained "grotesque levels of sugar and calories", with one containing 39 teaspoons of sugar or 1,280 calories. BDA hosts a ’sugar summit’ to open new front on the war on sugar.

Government urged to protect dentists from rising costs of clinical negligence

Dental Protection is calling on the Government to introduce a package of legal reforms that would protect dentists from the spiralling cost of clinical negligence claims. Raj Rattan, Dental Director at Dental Protection said: “It is not unusual for the costs awarded to claimant lawyers to be significantly higher than the damages paid to the patient.”
