Children take centre stage in new Teeth Team film

A host of children benefiting from an oral health programme take centre stage in a film all about how they are part of a highly successful in-school tooth care scheme. Teeth Team has produced a film all about its child oral health improvement programme facilitated by local dental practices in areas of severe social deprivation in Hull and East Yorkshire.

Claire Stevens, media spokeswoman for the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry, said: "Teeth Team have made an excellent video in which children deliver important messages around good oral health and healthy eating and drinking. They succeed in conveying in a fun way that dental decay is preventable. All children should acquire the skills to help achieve lifelong dental health and Teeth Team is helping make that a reality. We would like to think that this video goes viral.”

Christopher Groombridge, Chair of the Teeth Team charity, added: “We are delighted with the new film – it really showcases the hard work that the charity is doing in this region – the children say it all! This child public health programme can be replicated anywhere around the country – and is already been picked up in neighbouring counties. We have the backing of many public health organisations and parliamentary support from our local MP’s. There is no reason for our children’s oral health to suffer – what we are doing here in this region is really making a difference. Teeth Team provides a simple, effective and cost efficient solution to giving children the teeth they deserve.”.

Teeth Team currently supports 28 local primary, nursery and secondary schools across the region to ensure all children have regular access to a toothbrush and toothpaste and fluoride varnish, where applicable. Teeth Team encourages a multi-agency approach to improve and promote regular access to local general dental services by delivering education, prevention, early Intervention and equal Access.
